ARCANGEL
Santos was born in New York on December 23, 1985 but was raised in Santurce, Puerto Rico. Son of Dominican parents. Her mother is a former member of a Dominican merengue music group called Las Chicas del Can, which were very popular during the 1980s to the late 1990s.5 She grew up listening to different types of music and has been a fan of music Rock, in particular Robi Draco Rosa, a Puerto Rican rock artist and former member of Menudo. Arcángel was not always a fan of reggaetón; Affirms that it is not his favorite type of music. During the 2000s, Arcángel became interested in the new type of music, listening to artists like Tego Calderón and Tempo, inspired him to pursue a career as a reggaeton singer in Puerto Rico.6Musical career Beginnings
After moving to Puerto Rico in 2002, Arcángel decided to follow in the footsteps of reggaetón music.7 Later he became part of a reggaetón duo; Archangel & Of The Ghetto. The duo signed with record label Baby Records of the singer and composer of reggaetón; Zion. The duo also participated with Machete Music in 2004 during the time they were recording compilation albums. Arcángel & De la Ghetto rose to fame in 2005 with the album Collecting Thorium Reggaeton organized by Hector the Father & Naldo, Sangre Nueva, with his song "Ven pégate". They were also included in the compilation of Luny Tunes Mas Flow: The Benjamins in 2006.
Despite being an active musical duo, Arcangel & De la Ghetto never released a studio album since the formation of the duo. All the productions that had been involved only resulted in the tracks and the recordings in the compilation albums. This was due to a conflict with Baby Records, because the company did not publish any material of Arcángel & De la Ghetto in an own album. Archangel claimed that he even paid $ 150,000 in producing an album, resulting in the label "not releasing it to the market." The tracks produced are said to have been filtered on the Internet. Archangel had then filed a lawsuit with Baby Records in 2007 for $ 1,000 and would eventually leave the record company in December 2006 when he announced that he would embark on a solo career and found his own label.2007: Career as a soloist
After separation from the duo in early 2007, Archangel went on to perform solo, working with several reggaeton performers and producers on compilation albums. The most notable of these was a compilation album produced in 2007, Flow La Discoteka 2, which was produced by songwriter and record producer DJ Nelson. The album was a breeding of different artists of ascent to the fame, one of the included Arcángel, that made a song titled "Virtual Girl", happened to be one of its well-known songs, besides being a popular song airplay in stations of Urban Latin American radio, reaching the 9th position in Latin Rhythm Airplay. He also reached # 22 on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks.
Arcángel decided to release his solo album entitled La Maravilla in early 2008. However, it was canceled because the album leaked on the Internet during the spring of 2008. The tracks were distributed through its official website. One of the filtered tracks titled "Pa 'you have a good time," became a popular track in Latin America on urban radio stations in the United States. The unpublished album that leaked on the Internet resulted in the making of Arcángel as the most popular among reggaeton fans in the United States as well as in Puerto Rico.8
That same year, it published in the market its second album of titled titled "The Phenomenon", including collaborations with Don Omar and Tempo, in addition to having the simple "For loving in blind".2012: Pina Records
In the year 2012 becomes part of Pina Records, and is part of the album La Fórmula. "Me Prefieres a Mi", was a song of that album that occupied the first positions in Latin America, Europe and the United States. In 2013 he released his third studio album and the most anticipated of the American singer Arcángel. It took nearly four years for Arcángel to release his new album which consists of 18 songs that make up this new album, among which are the collaborations with Daddy Yankee, De La Ghetto, Ñengo Flow and the pupils of Arcángel, Genio & Baby Johnny and that presents "La Maravilla" returning to its musical essence with a content of pure reggaetón. A record project, which was harmed by the Piracy a week before the departure, manages to overcome the situation, and successfully placed in the privileged position # 1 in pre-sales of iTunes. With an overwhelming viral impact, which began with the video clip of the first single "Hace Mucho Tiempo", the success of this new musical journey of "La Maravilla" was shown.
